Space Alert

Space Alert by Matel, a very simple game, but boy is it adictive. The aim of the game is to shoot the cylons' bullets before they hit your battlestar. If the game malfunctions, try a fresh battery. My high score so far is 66. The game on the right hand side is Missile attack. As with a lot of Mattel products they simply re used and existing game and added the Galactica license to it.

I have just obtained another boxed version of the Space Alert game, and as you can see this has a slightly different box layout. The game inside is still the same, but the box no longer says 'based on the TV show Battlestar Galactica'.

Space Alert was basically a re-branded version of an old Mattel game called 'Missile Attack', This was the same game, but made in blue plastic, it was then renamed Space alert before, and finnaly given the Galactica branding.

Intersteller Battle

Battlestar Galactica - Letraset Action Transfers 3/4

This set features two differnet background scenes were you apply transfers to create your own action. There are a total of 4 sets (set #2 pictured) of each featruing to differnt backgrounds. Beside the background images there is a small bit of text describing the story. It's interesting to note that Apollo is refered to as Skyler which was his name in early versions of the scripts.

Adventure 3 Cylon Space Ambush

Zac and Skyler escorting the 'Battlestar Galactica' Fleet on its peace mission to the Cylons, have been ambushed and attacked in deep space. The 'two young warriors are being pursued by several Cylon warships, and are racing for home and the safety of 'Battlestar Galactica'. Not far behind, Cylon warships are blasting off their cannons and laser torpedoes. Over the intercom, Skyler tells Zac in the second craft to kick-in his turbo-thrusters and blasts off at incredible speed toward the 'Battlestar Galactica'. As they get closer to the craft, there is a huge flash in the sky . . . Zac's fighter explodes into a thousand pieces. Skyler's ship also sustains damage to the throttle controls and he comes screaming in to the landing tube on 'Battlestar Galactica' at full speed. All the ground crew take cover until he lands with a metal-tearing screech, controlling the aircraft until it comes to a halt, and the ground crews rush with their fire-fighting equipment and safely lead Skyler to the bridge and Commander Adama.

Adventure 4 Flight from Danger

Skyler and Commander Adama with the rest of the crew on the bridge of 'Battlestar Galactica', watch the destruction of the inner planets, unable to take any action. 'We are going to fight back' said Captain Adama 'but not here, not now, not in the colonies, not even in this star system. Let the word go forth to every man, woman and child who has survived this war, tell them to leave their planets in any assortment of vehicles that will carry them. Tell them to use anything that will fly, every inter-galactic passenger liner, every freighter, tanker, air-taxi , anything that will carry our people into the stars.' The word went out to every planet where there was life, this -rag-tag fleet of spacecraft launched into outer space, in all 22,000 ships carrying the survivors into the unknown dark and sinister space ihat lay ahead.

Battlestar Galactica - A game of Starfighter combat

Made by FASA in 1979 this is a stratagey game for two or more players. You take command of a fleet of vipers or raiders and battle against your opponents. I haven't played the game yet as it looks quite boring, so if you have and know what it's about, drop me a mail.

Viper Patrol - Apple Computer Game

This game was released by Keypunch Software in 1987 and was available for the Atari ST, C64, and Apple. This seems like quite a late release for a Galactica related game, but I guess there still must have been interest in it then. I'm not sure what you had to do in the game, but from the screen grabs on the box it looks quite basic.

Cylon Attack - BBC Micro Game

Playstation 2 - Battlestar Galactica
I have to say I was very dissapointed with this game. I work in games so know what you can do, and this does very little. The graphics and sound are ok, but it plays so very badly. There is no sense of speed and the controls are all over the place. I would rather play the old Mattel Space Alert hadngeld game. Developed by Warthog. Released 11/19/2003. Also available on Xbox.
